Project INARE: New and innovative approaches for regional development through corporate economic promotion
  • Financed by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy of the State of North-Rhine Westphalia and the Hans-Böckler Foundation,
  • Project leader: Ruhr University Bochum – Geographical Institute, Prof. Dr. Lötscher,
  • Partner: PCG – PROJECT COMSULT GmbH, Essen and Groupe Alpha, Paris.
The study and the corresponding transfer workshops evinced operative requirements and perspectives for the development of a future-oriented and modern, cooperative regional policy, which especially includes the companies’ commitment for the location and production environment. Additionally, this study compared and analyzed prevailing circumstances and case examples in France and Germany.
Essential part of this study was the question, which moves (in form of financial or personnel resources or projects) could succeed in the case of a restructuring or location closure, to create replacement jobs by the implemented support of companies and thus develop a sustainable perspective for the affected region beyond a golden parachute. Instead of negotiated measures, such as a reconciliation of interest or severance schemes, moves for the revitalization of the economy should be performed, as it is already practiced in France.
According to this knowledge, it was possible to assess and discuss recommendations for action, transfer options, potential interfaces and links for other regions, branches, sectors as well as actors.
